Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 (with S Pen) Review : Premium Tablet for Productivity and Entertainment

Unlike previous years, Android tablet market in Indonesia today is quite quiet. Even so, Samsung remains faithful presenting new tablets to meet the desires of users who still need these devices to accompany daily activities.

Samsung's latest product in the realm of Android tablet is the Galaxy Tab S3. Yes, this is a premium device that is priced at quite high, ie 10 million rupiah. What are the advantages it offers? Check out our reviews:

Samsung's distinctive design

Tablet is arguably a device that lacks innovation in terms of design. Galaxy Tab S3 did not present anything special, in addition to the thickness of the course that remains slim.

Overall, the design is typical Samsung. It still feels minimalist without any unnecessary design breakthroughs. Metallic material feels premium at the price. On the front you will still find the physical Home button (as well as the fingerprint sensor) along with the softkey right next to it.

Galaxy Tab S3 has a weight of 434 grams. Comfortable enough to hold and not too heavy. At the back you will find a back cover lined with glass. It's easy to get dirty when exposed to oily fingers, but on the other hand, the use of glass makes it look more attractive.

Interestingly, on one side, the Galaxy Tab S3 has a magnetic connector for easy installation of the keyboard. When you need a device to work while on the go, just connect the keyboard with Galaxy Tab S3 then you are ready to remain productive.

Please note that the Galaxy Tab S3 equipped S Pen supported some useful functions like the Note series. Suitable for you who are creative and need a device to pour ideas anytime and anywhere.

Can be used without batteries, S Pen on Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 has a pen tip with a diameter of only 0.7mm and is able to recognize the pressure up to 4,096 levels. Minusnya value, there is no special place to store the S Pen in the Galaxy Tab S3, so potentially lost or left at home. Fortunately, if you have a keyboard, there's a place to slip S Pen.

POGO Keyboard to work on mobile

As mentioned above, Galaxy Tab S3 is also supported POGO Keyboard in order to facilitate the user complete the work with more flexible. This keyboard can be connected via a magnet-based connector that is easy to install and remove. In addition, POGO Keyboard also does not have a battery that means users do not have to bother recharge.

If you need a tool to type with practical, this keyboard POGO could be the answer. When installed as a cover did not make the dimensions of Galaxy Tab S3 looks bongsor and heavy.

But that should be remembered, you will not get the experience of typing as on the keyboard on the PC. The buttons available are only the main functions for typing only. There is no Home button so you need to reach the physical Home button on your tablet if you need that function. In addition, the Backspace and Enter keys we think are too small.

It's not perfect, but if you're looking for an alternative to replace a heavy laptop to carry around, the Galaxy Tab S3 and POGO keyboard are an interesting option.

The screen is charming, the audio is supported by 4 speakers

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 brings the screen AMOLED Super 9.7 inch with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels (518ppi). Extremely sharp and pamper your eyes while enjoying content especially movies and games, though around it you'll still find a thick bezel.

Cool again, this screen already supports HDR. With supportive content, you can enjoy a much more captivating video display. Unfortunately, HDR content is something that is not easy to get. Content providers like Netflix have not yet provided HDR support for tablets.

Looking at the audio sector, Galaxy Tab S3 seems to be designed with a prominent entertainment features. Evident from the existence of Quad Stereo Speaker (4 speakers) AKG claim is located in four corners of the tablet to support a capable audio.

Android 7.0 Nougat with S Pen support features

The tablet adopts the Android 7.0 Nougat operating system with a typical Samsung user interface. Quite a few useful features are embedded, including to support doodles using S Pen.

You'll find Smart Select to crop certain parts of the screen. There is also a Translate function, which according to its name can translate the writing on the screen. The way is easy enough. Just point S Pen to the word you want to translate, and the results will be instantly displayed.

In order for higher productivity, you can do multitasking by displaying two applications that run at once on one screen. You are also presented with various Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and so on.

Camera is enough for video calls

Samsung buried a 13 megapixel f / 1.9 camera (with autofocus and LED flash) on the back and 5 megapixel f / 2.2 up front to support needs like video calls. We will not go too far on this sector because we do not think tablets are commonly used for photography.

Clearly, the front camera is good enough for video calls. While you're working mobile, you can still connect with friends or family at home. Moreover, Galaxy Tab S3 already supports 4G network so you do not have to bother looking for WiFi connection.

Performance is seamless

For business performance, Galaxy Tab S3 rely on SoC Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and 4 GB RAM. Internal memory is not big for a device worth 10 million dollars, which is only 32 GB. But fortunately, there is still a microSD slot.

Overall, the performance of Galaxy Tab S3 is very smooth to support various needs. For 3D gaming also smoothly and no problem means during us run games like Iron Blade that has a high graphical display.
For more details, here we present the results of some benchmark applications that we run:

The battery is tolerable

Compared with the previous generation, Galaxy Tab S3 battery has increased slightly to 6000 mAh. The actual size does not look great for tablet size. However, the battery can still support our activities from morning until late afternoon.

The charging process was quite fast. Using a charger equip with less than 10 percent battery condition, the Galaxy Tab S3 can be fully charged up to 100 percent in about 2 hours.

Not to forget, we also tested using PCMark Work 2.0 Battery Life app. Check out the results:

Conclusion

Overall Galaxy Tab S3 is an interesting device. You are looking for an alternative to replace a heavy laptop can choose this tablet and POGO keyboard as a solution.

But as we always emphasize, Android tablet market is no longer wriggling. As a replacement for Windows-based laptops anyway, Android tablets clearly can not provide the same experience. Moreover, the price of Galaxy Tab S3 according to us is quite expensive.
